I'm new to ice fishing, and think it is great! Has anyone been recently? Any monster fish out there?

I haven't been since the third week in January. We had a couple of good days on the Soldier Creek side of Strawberry. My cousin Bobby and I had a 50+ fish day which I followed up with a 10-15 fish day with my wife the following weekend. Nothing of size as far as the 'Berry goes, just slot cutts.

How long does the ice fishing season last? Is it almost over or are there still going to be a few weekends to get out? I hate the slush, and with it warming up I'm curious what it's like... what is your take?

Ice fishing lasts until it's unsafe to get on the ice at the lake you're fishing. It's possible to fish the higher lakes well into April. Depends on the weather.

Well hopefully I'll be able to get out at least one more time this year. I really enjoyed my last trip, and would love to get out again. Cool

This year with all the snow and slush you'll probably need waders to get on the ice before too long. Sometimes the lake your at still has loads of ice, but due to runoff and snow melting, it is just one big puddle on top.

I've found my boot foot duck hunting waders to be perfect for this purpose. Keeps me warm and dry. I can kneel down or whatever without trouble.
